Exercises during pregnancy

By beautymagazine at 2010-02-09 04:32:20

Yoga teaches proper breathing techniques. This is good for both your mind and your body. The unique form of breathing that is done during yoga (in some practices called ujjayi breathing) can help calm the mind and the body. In any yoga for pregnancy video you get, there will be a focus on your breath. It can focus on how to calm your breath, how to breathe into different parts of your body and how to breathe away tension and stress. This kind of focused breathing is also great for helping you prepare for childbirth.
From a seated position, listen to your breath. When you are familiar with the rhythm and length of your breaths, inhale deeper, allowing your abdomen to grow to its fullest, then release the breath, now letting your abdomen fall completely. Repeat this breathing rhythm for 20 full breaths. Use this time to focus on your breathing, letting any stress and anxieties float away on the breath.
Yoga helps in avoiding high blood pressure and also tries to control your weight. Breathing exercise is very easy and can be easily done and one should avoid too many jerks and jumping in this condition. Some of the poses or asanas which pregnant ladies can do are Mountain yoga pose - beneficial for inciting strength, relaxing and providing strength, Triangle Yoga Pose- stretching your spine, tones up your spinal nerves, helps in your digestive system, Warrior yoga pose - which includes warrior I and warrior II, Standing side stretch - good for your stomach, arms and legs, Standing spread leg forward bend and Forward bend yoga exercise, Hero yoga pose, Cat pose, Fish pose, Headstand, Tree yoga pose and many more including Corpse pose.
Yoga is also a physical workout. Many of the poses or asanas are designed to open the hips, strengthen the pelvic wall, engage and flex the thigh muscles, tone and condition the entire body. Yoga can also be done anywhere. In a class, in your living room, on a chair, in the quiet of your bedroom, on a hilltop or on the beach, meditating on the waves washing in and out. Yoga poses include standing as tall as a tree, as strong as a mountain or as rounded as a gorilla.
Yoga has some powerful breathing techniques, which will ensure that your baby receives an abundant supply of oxygen and a better life force. Breathing exercises also increases your fitness levels and prepare your body for childbirth. Pranayam increases the amount of oxygen that enters your body and hence your baby's. Deep breathing enables a woman to cope with the process of delivery, even breast feed her baby correctly, and overall, be a fit and happy mom. It also helps to cope with labour pain. Contractions deprive the baby of oxygen temporarily, but by simply breathing right during delivery, a woman can saturate the uterus with oxygen, which will immensely benefit the baby."
That depends on your commitment, mom. As said before, it should become a routine for maximum efficacy. If you were fit before your pregnancy and you're now supplementing your physical fitness with yoga, then your muscles will remain in a condition that will allow for a quick return post labor. If you weren't fit, well, just stick with yoga for pregnant women and you'll get there soon.
You may be wondering which of its poses are safe for you and your baby. In the first trimester, standing positions will help circulation, strengthening of the legs and increased energy. Poses like "the mountain," "the triangle," "the warrior," "the tree yoga," "the standing side stretch" and "the standing spread leg forward bend" will all provide relaxing and satisfying stretches. During this time, you may perform poses that require you to lay on your back, but you should avoid back and belly poses into the next trimester.
There are many Yogic poses that are supposed to help increase fertility. Traditionally, yoga is said to decrease sexual energy, transforming into readily available energy for self-realization. However today, many Americans use yoga practices to help with infertility, and increase the chances of pregnancy. Yoga for conception may or may not be for everyone. For whatever reasons, many women may not like the idea of joining a yoga class. Yoga doesn't have to be in public. All the practices of yoga can be learned and performed right at home.
